The 7th International Barcode of Life Conference

20-24 November 2017

Prof. Shaw, the Centre Director, gave an oral presentation at the 7th International Barcode of Life Conference, which was held by the African Centre for DNA Barcoding and the University of Johannesburg.

This is the first time that this event was held on the African continent and the venue chosen was the Nombolo Mdhluli Conference Centre, Skukuza, located within the heart of African wildlife, the Kruger National Park, South Africa. The intention was to make this a global conference with a distinctive African flavor, using the event to highlight, support, and encourage African researchers across the continent, and to link them up with the global barcoding network. The conference format included plenary lectures, parallel sessions comprising both invited talks and contributed talks, and poster presentations.

Prof. Shaw presented a topic on ‘Development of a rapid screening protocol to identify shark fins from endangered shark species’.
