The 10th Pong Ding Yuen International Symposium on Traditional Chinese Medicine

Prof. Shaw, the Centre Director, gave an oral presentation at the 10th Pong Ding Yuen International Symposium on Traditional Chinese Medicine –  Drug Discovery from Chinese Medicines: Strategies for Complicated Diseases, which was held in the University of Hong Kong from 1 to 3 December 2017.

The symposium covers different themes such as Chinese Medicine education, treatment of geriatrics and cancer by integrative medicine, global development of Chinese Medicine, free radical research, mental health, drug discovery from Chinese Medicines, etc.

Prof. Shaw presented a topic on ‘Recent Advances in the Molecular Authentication of Chinese Medicinal Material and Products’. The abstract is appended as follows:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Two students, Mr. Gavin Shou and Ms. Tina Zhang, also gave a poster presentation at the symposium. The topics are ‘ Cardiocrinum giganteum Seeds Contain Novel Antitussive Phytochemicals’ and ‘A Chinese prescription shows an,-influenza effects on mouse and cell models with its possible mechanisms’.
