A series of intensive training courses for Chinese medicines practitioners, which was co-organized by Li Dak Sum Yip Yio Chin R & D Centre for Chinese Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Pharmacists Association (HKCMPA) was started from August 2017. There are a total of 20 classes in four main areas including Fundamentals of Chinese medicines, Authentication of Chinese medicines, Clinical Pharmacology of Chinese medicines and Management of Chinese medicines. The opening ceremony was held on 23 September 2017. Many Chinese medicine practitioners attended to witness the course officially launched. Officiating guests include Professor Pang-Chui Shaw, Director of Li Dak Sum Yip Yio Chin R & D Centre for Chinese Medicine, CUHK, Dr. Dawn Au, President of Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Pharmacists Association, Mr. Tommy Li, Committee member of Chinese Medicine Development Committee and Dr. Anthony Ma, Principal Consultant (Environmental Management) of the Hong Kong Productivity Council. Mr. Qing-Bin Meng, Deputy Inspector of Medical Department of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Mr. Jun-Feng Chen, Director of Coordination Office of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Hong Kong and Mr. Chi-Hang Lam, Senior Pharmacist of Department of Health (Chinese Medicine Division) also attended. Mr. Meng and Mr. Lam then delivered keynote talks. The course curriculum is in line with the needs of Chinese medicines professionals in the industry to complement the different areas of traditional Chinese medicines knowledge. Due to the overwhelming response, all the classes with around 800 seats were full within 24 hours from the start of promotion. This shows that the course is in line of the need of the Chinese medicines industry.
