Workshop on DNA identification of Chinese Materia Medica

28 August 2021

A  workshop on DNA identification of Chinese Materia Medica was organized by the Centre on 28 August 2021 (Saturday). The main theme of the workshop was Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) of Fritillaria Cirrhosae Bulbus. Participants were guided to conduct experiments on (1) Extraction of Template DNA, (2) Quantification of template DNA, (3) Setting up PCR-RFLP and (4) Agarose gel electrophoresis.

It is our pleasure to have Mr. Ka-Lok Wong, an experienced DNA Analyst from Government Chinese Medicines Testing Institute (GCMTI) of Department of Health to give a talk on ‘DNA Identification in GCMTI and Setting for Molecular Biology Laboratory’. There was also a demonstration on loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) by Dr. Yat-Tung Lo to introduce the principal of LAMP, setting up LAMP reactions and LAMP experimental analysis.
